Income tax return has to be filled every year in the specified format as prescribed by IT department. After 31st march of the financial year, IT department use to prescribe format to these forms for filling income tax return. In this article, we will be showing you steps in filling income tax return online.
Check your total tax credit in form 26AS
Before filling income tax return online, you must check the total tax amount that is deposited so far into your account. Every individual or company deducting tax from your payments are required to deposit it to your PAN account maintained by IT department. To know the exact amount of tax in your PAN account you are required to see it online.

Download ITR form
Tax department has prescribed certain forms for different persons for filling income tax return online. You are required to select your tax form as applicable to your and download for filling it online.
After downloading the form, you are required to file each and every detail in the form correctly and calculated your tax liability by selecting calculation option available in that form.
Fill up the tax details that has already been deducted from your payments or deposited by you in TDS sheet before pressing calculation button.
After completion of all these details, you are required to save it. If everything is ok you can go ahead and select submit button to upload your income tax return to IT department.
After selecting submit button, it will ask for login ID, password and date or birth to enter. Enter those details and click on submit.
Submit ITR V – Acknowledgement of filling income tax return
After uploading your income tax return you will be displayed with an acknowledgement form called ITR V which can be opened in combination PAN number and date of birth as password.
Just take a print out of it and sign at the bottom verification page before sending it to IT department’s CPC office Bangalore. You should not send any other mode of sending ITR V to CPC Bangalore other that through Ordinary post or speed post.

Please remember is you are not sending the acknowledgement to IT department, CPC office Bangalore then it will be treated as if you have not filled your income tax return.
If you have a digital signature then that can be used while filling income tax return and after uploading you will not be required to send ITRV copy to Bangaluru.
