India’s largest private sector bank ICICI Bank, today launched banking services on twitter. As per ICICI, by using this service, ICICI Bank customers can transfer money to anyone in India who has a Twitter account. Customers can also check account balance, view last three transactions and recharge prepaid mobile in a completely secure manner.
ICICI Bank is the first bank in India to allow money transfer on twitter with #icicibankpay.
To use ICICI bank’s banking service on twitter, you need to have ICICI bank saving account, mobile number registered with ICICI and a twitter account.
To register for banking service on twitter, customer needs to follow the bank’s twitter account and send a direct message in the following format;
“#reg <space> <registered mobile number with ICICI Bank>”
For safety measure ICICI bank will be sending a ‘one time password’ (OTP) to the registered mobile. This OTP or pin has to be sent as a direct message from customer’s twitter account to the bank’s twitter account in the following format;
“#regotp <space> <OTP>”
After registration customer can transfer funds, check account balance, view last three transactions and recharge prepaid mobile by simply sending a Direct Message from her Twitter account to the Bank’s Twitter account.
ICICI bank has suggested specific formats for sending direct messages to transfer fund, checking account balance and view latest three transactions.
Money can even be sent to the recipient if the recipient does not have ICICI Bank saving account.
