India’s mobile travel search marketplace, ixigo, has announced that it has acquired Backpacking Travelers Pvt. Ltd which runs the site indianbackpacker.com for budget travellers.
Transaction value has not yet disclosed. As per ixigo, Akshay Chhugani, Founder & CEO of The Indian Backpacker will e joining ixigo as “Head, Traveller Communities”.
ixigo which is launched in the year 2007 has recently received investment from Micromax, India’s smartphone manufacturer.
As per the company, ixigo connects over 60 million travellers with content & deals from over 25,000 online & offline travel & hospitality businesses. The company aggregates and compares real-time travel information, prices & availability for flights, trains, buses, cabs, hotels, packages & destinations.
By the end of 2016, company is looking forward to grow fivefold to reach over 30 million monthly active mobile users.
