Restaurant search portal Zomato acquires Cibando

The India based restaurant search portal, Zomato, has acquired a famous Italy based restaurant discovery service, Cibando as it’s rapidly expands its presence beyond India.


Recently zomato also acquired New Zealand based ManuMania, Czech republic based Lunchtime, Obedovat in Solvakia and Gastronauci in Poland.

With this acquisition, Zomato will have presence in all most all cities of Italy including Rome, Milan, Naples, Turin and Florence. To grow the business and team in Italy, Zomato is planning to invest $6 million over the next two years.

Company has not disclosed the value of acquisition. Company has investor backing from Info Edge (India) Ltd, Vy Capital and Sequoia Capital.

Cibando is founded by Guk Kim in the year 2010. Presently about 82000 restaurants are listed on Cibando. It also have professionally shot food and ambience photographs for a large number of these restaurants.

According to its website, at present Zomato operates from all most all cities of Indian and available in 18 countries, 35 million foodies use Zomato every month.
