Xiaomi has launched Redmi 2 in India at Rs 6999. Redmi 2 will be available via flipkart on 24th March 2015 for which registration will start at 6PM today. The new successor to the Redmi 1S will now available in white and Grey colour.
Redmi 2 sports a 4.7 inch IPS HD display screen with HD resolution. It runs on company’s own MIUI 6 skin over Android 4.4 KitKat and powered by 64-bit 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM and Adreno 306 GPU.
Xiaomi has also confirmed that 2GB RAM with 16GB Flash will be coming to India at a later date.
The device includes an 8 megapixel rear camera along with a 2MP front facing camera.
Redmi 2 houses 8GB internal storage space which can be expanded up to 32 GB via micro SD card.
The 8 Mega Pixel rear camera uses backside illumination (BSI) for great low-light performance at night, while infrared sensor protection improves image quality in sunlight. The 2 Mega Pixel front facing camera records 720p HD video.
First time Xiaomi offers 4G dual SIM, dual standby in Redmi 2. As per the company, users are not required to manually switch SIM cards around with 4G support on both slots.
This device also features rounded corners and a textured back that feels great in your grip. Redmi 2 uses two noise-cancelling silicon microphones which provides better signal to noise ratio than traditional ECM microphones, producing sound that remains clear even in the noisiest environments.
It comes with a 2200mAh lithium-ion polymer battery, which has 10% more capacity
compared to earlier Redmi 1S
